What is Family Mosaic?
Family Mosaic is a web app that helps families preserve life stories in a relative's own voice. You send a parent, grandparent, or older loved one a question; they tap a link and record their answer. Each story is transcribed and saved in a private family archive.
Who is Family Mosaic for?
Family Mosaic is for families who want to preserve the voices, memories, values, and stories of parents, grandparents, and older relatives before those stories are lost.
Is it easy for older relatives to use?
Yes. Family Mosaic is designed to be simple for people who may not be comfortable with new technology. They open a link, read the question, and record their answer in their own voice.
Does my parent or grandparent need to download an app?
No. They do not need to download anything or create an account. The recording page opens directly from the link you send, in their phone or tablet browser.
How do I send a question?
Choose a question from the prompt library or write your own, then send a personal recording link by text, WhatsApp, or email. The message comes from you, so it feels like answering a family question, not opening a company email.
What languages do you support?
The app is available in English, Spanish, German, Slovak, and Arabic, including right-to-left support for Arabic. Your loved one can record in the language that feels most natural to them, and automatic transcription works across most major languages.
Can I include photos?
Yes. Photos can be uploaded when you send a question to inspire a story, or added to a story after it has been recorded.
Can I edit transcripts?
Yes. Each recording is automatically transcribed, and you can edit the transcript afterward. This is especially helpful for correcting names, places, family terms, or words the transcription did not catch correctly.
Can I export or download the stories?
Yes. You can download individual recordings and export the archive as a PDF or Word document with photos. You can also create an audiobook-style export with short narrated chapter introductions.
Are the recordings private?
Yes. Recordings are private to your family by default. You can choose to share a secure read-only listening link with relatives who do not have an account.
Are stories used to train AI?
No. Your family's recordings, transcripts, and stories are not used to train AI models.
Can I delete recordings or my account?
Yes. You can delete individual recordings or remove your account and associated family archive.
How much does it cost?
Family Mosaic is currently free to try. You can sign up, send recording links, build your archive, and download exports at no cost. If paid features are added later, the stories you have already saved will remain accessible.
