Terms of Service

Welcome to Family Mosaic. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Family Mosaic website, app, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account, accepting an invitation, recording a story, uploading content, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Family Mosaic

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or manage a family project. A parent or guardian may allow a minor to use the Service under their supervision. Family Mosaic may be used by project managers, storytellers, and contributors. A project manager creates or manages a family archive. A storyteller records answers. A contributor may help add questions, photos, notes, or other content. Available permissions may vary by feature and project settings. You are responsible for making sure that anyone you invite to record, contribute, or view content understands how the Service works and has agreed to participate.

2. What the Service does

Family Mosaic helps families capture, transcribe, organize, and preserve spoken stories. Features may include shareable recording links, AI-assisted transcription, photos, story collections, exports, private listening links, and tools for building a family archive. We may add, remove, or change features as we improve the product.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for your account, the email address connected to it, magic-link emails sent to your inbox, and any activity that happens under your account. Please keep your email account and Family Mosaic access secure. If you invite other people to use the Service, you are responsible for managing their access and for sharing links carefully.

4. Recording consent and family permissions

Family Mosaic is built around personal stories, voices, photos, and family memories. You are responsible for making sure you have the right permissions before recording, uploading, sharing, or publishing content through the Service. In particular:

  • Storytellers should know that they are being recorded and that their recording may be transcribed, stored, and shared with invited family members.
  • You should not upload or share someone else’s voice, photo, story, or personal information unless you have permission to do so.
  • If a story includes sensitive information about other people, you are responsible for deciding whether it is appropriate to store or share it.
  • If you send recording or listening links to others, you are responsible for who receives those links.

5. Your content

You retain all rights to the recordings, photos, transcripts, questions, notes, and other content you or your invited participants upload or create through the Service (“Your Content”). You grant Family Mosaic a limited license to host, store, transcribe, process, edit, format, display, share, and export Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you and the people you choose to invite or share with. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

6. AI and third-party processing

Family Mosaic may use trusted third-party providers to provide parts of the Service, including hosting, storage, transcription, editing, formatting, translation, search, exports, and related AI-assisted features. Recordings and other content may be processed by AI providers to create transcripts, summaries, edits, or other features you request. AI-generated outputs may contain mistakes. You should review transcripts, summaries, edits, and exports before relying on them. Your family’s recordings, transcripts, photos, and stories are not used to train AI models.

7. Privacy and sharing

Recordings and family archives are private by default. You control who you invite and what you choose to share. Some features may allow you to share read-only listening links, recording links, exports, or other content with relatives or invited participants. Please share these links carefully. Anyone with access to a shared link may be able to view or listen to the content available through that link. Once you download or export content, you are responsible for storing and sharing those files securely. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • upload unlawful, harmful, harassing, abusive, defamatory, hateful, or infringing content;
  • record, upload, or share someone’s voice, image, story, or personal information without appropriate permission;
  • access or attempt to access another person’s account or family archive without permission;
  • interfere with, disrupt, overload, or harm the Service;
  • scrape, copy, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without permission;
  • upload malware or attempt to bypass security measures;
  • use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.

We may remove content, restrict access, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for other users, Family Mosaic, or the Service.

9. Deletion, exports, and backups

You can delete individual recordings or your account from Account settings or by using the available deletion tools in the Service. When you delete content or close your account, we will remove your recordings, transcripts, and personal data from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to short technical backup windows, legal requirements, and legitimate security or fraud-prevention needs. You can download or export your content where export features are available. Please keep your own copies of recordings or exports that are important to you. We cannot guarantee that the Service will always be available or that content will never be lost.

10. Free and paid features

Family Mosaic is currently free to try. Some features may become paid features in the future. If we introduce paid plans, subscriptions, or paid add-ons, we will show the price and key terms before charging you. We will not charge you unless you choose to purchase a paid feature or plan.

11. Changes to the Service

We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. We may also pause or discontinue parts of the Service. If we discontinue the Service or make changes that materially affect access to your family archive, we will try to give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your content, where practical.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do our best to provide a reliable and useful service, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that transcripts, AI outputs, exports, or other generated content will be accurate. Family Mosaic is not a legal, medical, financial, archival, or professional preservation service. You are responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use any content created through the Service.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Family Mosaic will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Family Mosaic’s total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limits may not apply to you.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk for other users or the Service, or use the Service in a way that may cause legal or security issues. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will continue to apply, including sections about Your Content, privacy and sharing, disclaimers, liability, and governing law.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email, in the app, or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, unless local consumer protection laws require otherwise.

17. Who provides the Service

These Terms are provided by Family Mosaic. If a legal entity is formed or designated to operate the Service, these Terms may be updated to reflect that entity.
